Born and raised in Bogota (Colombia), high soprano Natalia Pastrana is a graduate of the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève (HEM), Bern University of the Arts (HKB) and the Swiss Opera Studio, where she studied Voice Performance with Malin Hartelius.

Her staged roles include “Amour” in Jean-Philippe Rameau’s Zaïs (2021) and “Berggeist” in the world premiere of Fabien Müller’s Eiger at the Theater Biel-Solothurn (2021/2022). In 2021, she made her debut as “Carolina” in the staging of Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto: Eine Opernseife with WorkshOpera Bern, and in 2022 she took part in a new production of Victor Herbert’s Babes in Toyland by Olivier Tambosi.

As a concert soloist, Pastrana appeared at the Rostock Summer Campus with the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock under Marcus Bosch, in the opera gala Auf hoher Fahrt at the Casino Bern under Christoph Campestrini and also recently performed at the Open-Air Concert Nachklang 2023 at the Vienna Central Cemetery.

The Colombian soprano studied music theory at the Universidad de los Andes in her native country and graduated with honors from the Université Paris-Sorbonne with a master’s degree in musicology in June 2016.

Natalia has also benefited from the input of teachers such as Silvana Bazzoni-Bartoli, Adriana Bastidas-Gamboa, Hedwig Fassbender, Caroline Fèvre, Juliette Galstian, Thomas Heyer, Narda Muñoz and Regina Werner-Dietrich. She is also the recipient of esteemed artistic grants, including the “Quiero Estudiar” Foundation (CO), the Schüller Foundation (CH), the Else V. Sick Foundation (CH) and the Wagner Müller Foundation (CH).

From September 2023 to April 2025, she was a member of the Academy of the Chorus of the Vienna State Opera and sang as Soprano 1 with the choir of the same house as well as with the Konzertvereinigung Wiener Staatsopernchor at the Salzburg Festival 2025.
